Instead of mugs and T-shirts, I'd like to offer you a selection of some of my favorite books.
I've picked out a few ways you can support me in my work at Jonathan's Corner:
|
Calvin and Hobbes Lazy Sunday Book, by Bill Watterson. I like Calvin and Hobbes, and this book brings together a number of lovely Sunday strips. |
|
The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis: The classic children's tales. |
| Today's Parallel Bible: A parallel Bible adds something genuine to study, and in my opinion is more than a best-kept secret. If you can't read the Bible in ancient languages, reading one translation is better than nothing, but there's an added advantage to comparing translations side by side, and Today's Parallel Bible is the best tool I know to read the timeless classic of the King James Version, the New International Version and the New Living Translation, and the New American Standard Version: different translations that work in different ways and each have something to add, and they're set out side-by-side in a way that makes it as easy to compare as I think is possible. |
|
Eternal Wisdom from the Desert, tr. Henry Carrigan: A blast from the fourth century desert. |
|
Father Arseny, by Alexander: The tale of a Christian who lit a candle in Hell. |
|
For the Life of the World, by Alexander Schmemann: An invitation to stand before the throne of God. |
| Gödel, Escher, Bach, by Douglas Hofstadter: Wheels within wheels of mental fireworks. |
| Out of the Silent Planet, by C.S. Lewis: A fairy tale for grown-ups. Followed by Perelandra, and That Hideous Strength. |
| The Orthodox Way, by His Grace KALLISTOS: A book that fascinated me when I first read it and is an excellent book to introduce the Orthodox Church. |
| Phantastes, by George MacDonald: The oldest fantasy novel in the English language. |
Whether or not you give anything, thanks for visiting!
