Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ;
When the economy is bad, it's easy to blame foreigners and those who are different.
The economy has been doing very badly, even apart from the recent surprise.
Whether or not Muslims are responsible for these terrorist acts, many Americans think of all Muslims as terrorists. Together, these things mean that it is a very bad time to be a Muslim in the U.S.A. Many Muslims will be treated violently, often by Christians--and if we do not act as if Jesus is the Prince of Peace, how will they believe he is the Son of God?
I would invite you to join me in prayer for Muslims in America. Pray that other Americans would treat them kindly. Pray for their safety. Pray that people will not do things to them that will alienate them from the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am concerned now, because many people have been killed by terrorists and many more will be treated coldly by people who assume all Muslims are terrorists.
Please pray that our nation not respond to this grievance by shameful treatment of citizens and guests within our borders.
In Christ's love,
Jonathan Hayward
